Introduction

Dear family
I am a 29 year old lady living in Windhoek, Namibia. I grew up in a small village in the northern part of Namibia where girls and young women are raised to be strong and responsible for their households in terms of doing chores e.g cooking, caring for young ones and elderly, and cleaning. I grew up with my mum and my 4 siblings, Suama 45, Ndeshi 33, Jeremy 31, my little brother Amos 27, my cousin Freddy 23 , my niece Joy 17 and finally my niece Olivia 14. We grew up under the care of our single mother Ester as our dad Jeremy passed away in 2000. We were raised to be respectful, honest, trustworthy and always to do the right thing. My mum was a teacher but now a retiree and she still lives at the village.
Coming from such a background, caring for kids is such a natural thing. Even better, while in my 3rd year at university, I was employed at a daycare center in Windhoek as a Principal and Administrative Officer, and I was in charge for all the operations of the daycare. The boss would travel for months to Europe as his family lives there, but he trusted me with the daycare. We took care of children from 3 months to 14 years. On some days I had to work on behalf of any employee who was absent, and sometimes I would work alone at the beginning or end of the year, taking care about 10 children from 3 months to 6 years (caretakers would not be needed when the kids are few), and thus I had to experience all age groups. I am also flexible as I could juggle office work and taking care of kids. I was also in charge of the aftercare program where we helped children (age 8-14) from different schools with homework and give them extra lessons. I have created a very special relationship with those kids. What made me a good caretaker was my passion for taking care of kids, being responsible, patience, kindness, proactivity, playful and my upbeat energy was the cherry on top. I worked there for 4 years and I loved it so much, unfortunately when Covid came the daycare underwent a crisis and I had to look for the next step in my career immediately, so I went to university to pursue my Postgraduate Diploma in Management.
After that I was employed as a Student Supervisor and Administrative Officer for a summer school program at my university. I had a good time socializing with students from Germany, Switzerland and France. I enjoy meeting new people and my good interpersonal skills makes it easy for me to make new friends easily.
From December 2022, I stayed with my big sister and her 3 children aged 4, 8 and 16. I helped take care of the kids by cooking dinner, preparing the younger one's lunch box, making breakfast and dropping the younger one at school before I went to work.
A little description of myself, I am creative, artistic and mostly make my income from my creations. I am confident, happy, understanding, playful, full of energy and very positive. I enjoy listening to music, dancing, hiking, jogging, camping and travelling. About languages, I speak fluent English and basics of German. I want to be an Au pair because I like to learn new cultures, try new food and learn different languages. I also want to share my culture, stories and interesting things about Namibia with you. What I plan to do after Au pair is to pursue a Masters in Business Administration in Europe. One day i want to work in an insurance firm or in a bank. To conclude, I would appreciate the time you would take to read my profile.
Thank you so much and have a great day.
Regards
Salmi
